DIFFERENCES IN STRAIGHT CABLE AND CROSS CABLE

DIFFERENCES IN STRAIGHT CABLE AND  CROSS CABLE

Detailed Explanation Regarding Differences With Straight Cable and Cross Cable

1. Straight Cable

Straight cables are used to when trying to connect between the computer and the hub or conversely. With other words, this method is used when we are going to connect two or more computers, but through an intermediary such as a hub or switch.
Straight cable is a cable that uses the term to the same standard at both ends of the cord, can EIA / TIA 568A or EIA / TIA 568B on both ends of the cable. Simply put, the color sequence on both ends of the same cable. In the straight cable, pin 1 on one end of the cable connects to pin 1 at the other end, pin 2 connected to pin 2 at the other end, and so on.
So, when PC send data on pins 1 and 2 through a straight cable to Switch, Switch receives data on pins 1 and 2. Well, because pins 1 and 2 on the switch will not be used to send data as well as pins 1 and 2 on the PC, then switch uses pins 3 and 6 to send data to the PC, because the PC receives data on pins 3 and 6.

2. Cable cross

Cross cable is used when we want to connect your computer to another computer, or cable is used when we want to connect two computers or hub to hub, in other words in a cross cable to connect the two devices using the same network.
In the picture, pin 1 and 2 on the other end connects to pins 3 and 6 on the other end B, as well as pins 1 and 2 at the end B is connected to pins 3 and 6 at the end A. Thus, pins 1 and 2 on each end of the cable is used to transmit data, while pins 3 and 6 on each end of the cable used to receive data, because pins 1 and 2 are connected in opposite pin 3 and 6.

FUNCTIONS CABLE

1. Function Straight Cable

Cables with this combination  is used for connections between devices of different types. for  examples, as follows:
1. Connect the computer to the switch
2. Connect the computer to the LAN on the cable modem / DSL
3. Connect the router to the LAN on the cable modem / DSL
4. Connect the switch to the router
5. Connect the hub to the router
the colors we can see in the image below:

2. Function Cable Cross

Cables  with this combination is intended for peer to peer connections between devices similar. For  example, as follows:
1. Connect the two computers directly
2. Connect 2 pieces switch
3. Connect the two pieces of the hub
4. Connect the switch with a hub
5. Connect your computer to the router

The color combination we can see in the image below:

The difference straight cable and cross in the data transmission and receipt of data:

 Shipment Data and Data Acceptance Model Straight Cable (Delivery of data with models straight cable) is the data sent to the hub / switch new hub restored. Transmission of data by the network adapter will be accepted as the signal transmission of data by the hub / switch and the data receiver in the network adapter and receipt of data by the hub / switch.
 Shipment Data and Data Acceptance Model Cross Cable
(Shipping and receiving data crossover cable) from computer to computer is delivery of data by a computer network adapter 1 will be accepted as a signal receiver in the computer network adapter 2 and receipt of data by a computer network adapter 1 is the delivery of data by a computer network adapter 2.

CREATING STRAIGHT AND CROSSOVER CABLE

To create a wired network using UTP cable, there are some tools that we need to prepare, namely:
• UTP cables
• RJ-45 Connector
• Crimping tools
• RJ-45 LAN Tester
sample picture as below:

1. UTP Cable Straight Type
Now we will discuss how to install. The first is how to install the type of straight UTP cable. To do this, do the following steps:
1. Peel the cable ends approximately 2 cm, so the tiny wires that are inside look.
• Separate cables and straightens. Then stacking and trim based on color is Orange White, Orange, Green White, Blue, Blue White, Green, White brown, and brown. After that cut the edges so mean to each other.

UTP cable arrangement straight type you can see in the picture below:

After the cable is arranged, take Jack RJ-45. As I said earlier this Jack consists of 8 pins. Pin 1 of this jack is located leftmost pin if the pin position facing you. Sequential to the right is the jack 2, 3, and so on.

Then insert the cables into the RJ-45 Jack in the order was as follows:
o Orange White on Pin 1
o Orange to Pin 2
o Green White at Pin 3
o Blue on Pin 4
o Blue White on Pin 5
o Green at Pin 6
o Brown White on Pin 7
o Brown at Pin 8.
Insert the cable until the tip is stuck in the jack.

Installing Jack RJ-45 cable is plugged into the mouth before crimping pliers corresponding to part pin RJ-45 Jack is inside the mouth of the pliers. Now flops jack before the crimping pliers until the entire pin stuck on the cable. Usually, if the pin jack has been lodged will make a sound "click".
Now that you've finished installing the RJ-45 jack on the end of the first cable. For the second end of the cable, the steps are the same as the first one end of the cable installation. To that end, repeat the steps had to put Jack RJ-45 connector on both ends of the cable.
If it is then we test using the LAN tester. Insert the tip end of the cable to the device, then turn it on, if the LED lights are on the LAN tester lights up all, from number 1 to 8 means that you have been successful. If there is one who does not turn means the possibility to pin numbers are no problem. The easiest way that you press (press) again using the pliers. The possibility of penetrating the pin yet. If you've hit but still do not connect, then try to check the correspondence between the pin already 1-1 or not seen image below:

2. Cross UTP Cable Type

How to install the UTP cable straight type I described earlier. Now I will discuss about how to install the UTP cable cross type. How to UTP cabling cross type virtually the same as installing UTP cable straight type. Installation technical about the same as before. The difference is the order of the color of the cable at both ends of the cable. For the end of the first cable, cable arrangement similar to the arrangement of straight UTP cable types, namely:

o Orange White on Pin 1
o Orange to Pin 2
o Green White at Pin 3
o Blue on Pin 4
o Blue White on Pin 5
o Green at Pin 6
o Brown White on Pin 7
o Brown at Pin 8.

For the second end of the cable, the color composition different from the first tip. The color composition is as follows:
• Green White on Pin 1
• Green on Pin 2
• Orange White to Pin 3
• Blue on Pin 4
• Blue White on Pin 5
• Orange on Pin 6
• White Brown at Pin 7
• Brown at Pin 8.
The final results UTP cable will cross type like this:
The conclusion is that if you install the cable UTP straight type then the arrangement of colors on both ends of the cable are the same. As for how the installation of UTP cross type, color composition different from the first end of the cable ends second cable. Later, when tested using the LAN tester, then later led 1, 2, 3 and 6 will be exchanged. If the straight type flaming sequence, whereas there are cross type jumping. But definitely should be lit all each led from number 1 to 8.l See image below:
